As a way of making up for lost time as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be two albums released most months on RTR throughout 2020 and into 2021. The fourth double album bundle features SELVEDGE's 'BLOOM IN RUST' (RTR031) and Matt Atkins & Slow Clinic's 'Enfolding'. Both albums explore the darker territories of ambient and experimental music, fitting with the changing seasons and longer nights.

'BLOOM IN RUST' is the latest album from SELVEDGE, the dark ambient and experimental project of Kansas-based musician Chance Dibben. Throughout the album, Chance explores twisted synths, bubbling textures, and metallic percussive elements. There's also extensive use of the stereo field, creating an immersive, and at points, unsettling listening experience.

'BLOOM IN RUST' arrives at a time when the seasons are changing and the nights get longer, soundtracking an unavoidable descent through dissonance, distortion and deep, rumbling drones.

Chance started working on this album back during the spring and summer months of 2019 with the intention of making something lighter. As summer faded to autumn, the album gradually became what it is today. Thematically, 'BLOOM IN RUST' is inspired by the idea of journeying through the mantle of Earth.

If you were to tell me WARM ENOUGH is an obscure 70's Komische album, I wouldn't be skeptical. Dibben employs many of the wonderful song structures of bands like Popol Vuhl, Cluster, Harmonia and early Kraftwerk. There are aesthetic shades in the long drawn out music codas that employ tones as melodies and drones as mood backings, there's also plenty of cyclical dirges that build up into the classic Komische trance. WARM ENOUGH keeps the Komische spirit bursting with life in these songs. fran3000
