The idea for 'Two Haunted Pianos' first came about in April of this year. The plan was to celebrate Cassette Store Day 2018 with a special split release with a common theme. Austin, Texas-based multi-instrumentalist Tyson Swindell and the multi-media artist Sound Awakener, Nhung Nyugen, are brought together in a single release, each presenting a side of music created to the theme of a haunted piano. Nhung's raw and manipulated piano recordings share a release with Tyson's eerie keyed progressions, creating the first CSD release for RTR.

The album includes four remixes, two for each artist, by Giulio Aldinucci, Kepier Widow, and Slow Clinic, bringing this lengthy release to roughly an hour of new music and augmented sound.

Tyson also provided a poem to accompany his long-playing track, 'I Will Wait For You Inn The Abyss', which can be found as an additional card insert within the physical release:

I will wait for you
In the abyss
I will stand in that
Impossible place
And I will wait
If you need space
To sort your life
To save a little face
I understand
While things are amiss
My love, I will wait.
