Tristan Louth-Robins
A very good ambient release from a fine Adelaide composer and musician. The pacing of sparse melody and weight of tone is something that really makes this music stand out from the sheer volume of ambient work being produced at present. There's a genuine sense of space and patience across these tracks that greatly reward repeated listens. Stark Light and the beautiful Momentary Senses/Oulu are highlights.

Andrew Lang is a composer and pianist based in Adelaide, Australia, and joins RTR with his latest album, 'Momentary Senses'.
The album creates a sense of closeness and intimacy, with Andrew exploring an exaggerating the characterful sounds of the upright piano. It is gentle, intricate and a celebration of imperfection. In Andrew's own words, "'Momentary Senses' came at a point of artistic and personal transformation; it was a form of meditation & therapy, as well as an artistic challenge".
Drawing from influences including Nils Frahm, Phillip Glass and Max Richter, Andrew has been exploring a delicate combination of ambient, modern classical and drone compositional styles. Releasing his debut full-length album, 'Burnt Shades', back in 2016 on Harry Towell's Whitelabrecs, Andrew's latest offering on RTR builds on already established foundations.
Listening to 'Momentary Senses' is a particularly moving experience, capturing and imbuing a much-needed feeling of optimism. The album is fragile, honest, and a fitting way to draw a year of many challenges to a close for the label.

Never have I heard a more intricate yet simplistic ensemble of perfection in sound.
It's hard to pick a favorite track on this album, as every single one is it's own masterpiece. I have a huge library of ambient soundscapes and drones, and this is without a doubt the king of them all.
This album will provide you a genuine experience of drifting through the vast universe in a hyper sleep pod.
